Mets fans, meet your new owner: Philadelphia Phillies' star Kyle Schwarber. The star slugger has been one of the biggest problems of the New York franchise for a long time now. That dominance continued during their 2022 series, where Schwarber dominated one of the most high-profile acquisitions of the Mets in the offseason.

Against the legendary Max Scherzer, Kyle Schwarber nailed not one, but TWO home runs against the dichromatic ace. That continued an insane streak for the Phillies star against the Mets. Schwarber has 12 home runs against the Mets in his last 11 games against them, setting a peculiar MLB record in the process. (via ESPN Stats and Info)

Schwarber helped the Phillies pull away from the Mets in the early stages of the game. In fact, his two HRs on Scherzer scored the team's first three points, before the bats of New York came alive to bring them back into the game.

The Phillies are looking to break into the postseason for the first time in a long time this season. The problem is that the National League this season has been insanely competitive. Unless they can secure the first seed in their division (over these same Mets, too), they'll have a rough time battling for a playoff spot.

At the very least, Schwarber's bat has been pretty reliable for the Phillies. The batter did make headlines after jawing at infamous umpire Angel Hernandez a week ago. Perhaps that interaction will lit a fire under the Phillies, and they'll go on a torrid run in the season.
