Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose's oldest son, PJ Rose, is seven years old now.

Rose says he's not going to force PJ to play basketball like him, but admits the little guy is “getting the itch for it right now.”

“My son, I don’t want him to hoop, but he’s getting the itch for it right now,” Rose told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. “If he wants to hoop, then it’s cool to hoop, but I’m not going to be that dad where if he don’t see he’s talented like I was then we’re going to focus this energy in another direction. I’m going to be that dad. He’s not going to hold on to dreams that’s not like reachable.”

Derrick Rose's son will be able to do whatever he wants to in life since he has the resources to be successful.

PJ has a great model in Derrick to look up to. The Pistons guard and three-time All-Star has undergone four knee surgeries since winning the MVP award in 2011, but he's battled back time and time again and is still one of the fastest players in the game.

In 27 games this season for the Pistons, D-Rose is averaging 16.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists. He's shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 32.1 percent from beyond the arc and 87.7 percent from the free-throw line.

It would be cool to see PJ play basketball like his dad. Only time will tell if it will happen.
