The Detroit Pistons' starting core is looking younger and younger after each offseason. Their expected 2022-2023 starting five has an average age of 21.4. One of the newest and youngest members of the squad, 18-year-old Jalen Duren, has high hopes for his team.

According to the center out of Memphis, this young team has what it takes to bring winning back to the Pistons organization.

“This is where I wanted to be throughout the whole process,” Duren said per ESPN. “Detroit is used to winning, so definitely get back to restoring the culture. I feel like the team is a great young team. A team that can grow together.”

This is huge for Pistons fans, who haven't seen their team make it to the playoffs since 2019, and haven't seen them win a postseason series since 2008. In the past three years, the Pistons have fallen far below .500, with a 23-59 record this past season.

While this is undoubtedly a huge task for such a new team, Duren's high expectations are warranted. The latest additions of Duren and first-round pick Jaden Ivey are immediate game changers for the Pistons.

This is according to an Eastern Conference scout (per ESPN), who referred to Duren and Ivey as “the two most athletic players in the draft.”

Ivey is expected to join Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Marvin Bagley III, and Isaiah Stewart in the Pistons' starting five. Meanwhile, Duren will likely play a predominant role as a bench piece behind Stewart.
