Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reported on Twitter that according to head coach Stan Van Gundy, Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson has yet to return to basketball activities but will begin to ramp up the work ahead of training camp.

The Pistons’ 2016-17 season was a significant disappointment as they missed out on the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. One of the major factors for their down year was Jackson’s ineffectiveness. Jackson missed the first month of the season due to a knee injury and was never really able to play well once he returned to the lineup. He ended up averaging sub-par numbers of 14.5 points and 5.2 assists on 42 percent shooting in 52 games.

Reggie Jackson was shut down for the last few weeks of the regular season and has also had the chance to fully recuperate this offseason. However, it is somewhat concerning that even after six months, Jackson still hasn’t been cleared to get back to work ahead of the new season.

Jackson averaged nearly 19 points and 6.2 assists per game in 2015-16 to help the Pistons to a 44-38 record and a playoff berth. His health and ability to bounce back to that high level of play will be key to Detroit's chances of returning to playoff contention for the upcoming season.
