The Detroit Pistons reportedly would prefer to trade starting point guard Reggie Jackson, according to Dave Early of Liberty Ballers.

Reggie Jackson signed a five-year, $80 million deal with the Pistons in 2015, but he hasn't lived up to that contract. Injuries have played a big role in that. Jackson only played 52 games in 2016-17 and 45 last year.

“We’ve recently received more on that and heard Detroit would prefer to find a new home for the 8th year guard out of Boston College, Reggie Jackson, which would open up a role for a guard in their rotation.”

Jackson is making $17 million this season and owed $18 million next year. The 28-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 28 games for the Pistons this season, Jackson is averaging 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 39.8 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Detroit enters their Wednesday matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a record of 14-14, sixth place in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons have been playing All-Star Blake Griffin as a point-forward this season, so the ball hasn't been in Jackson's hands as much. It will be interesting to see if Detroit finds a taker for him.
