First introduced in Gen II, Sneasel looks a lot different in Hisui compared to Pokemon Gold & Silver, gaining a new regional form in Pokemon Legends Arceus. While Johto's Sneasel used to evolve into Weavile in past generations, now Hisuian Sneasel gets a PLA-exclusive evolutionary stage, transforming into Sneasler. Here's a guide on where you can get Hisuian Sneasel and how to evolve it into Sneasler in Legends Arceus.

In both Pokemon Sun & Moon and Pokemon Sword & Shield, trainers got to meet ‘mons from past generations as remodeled regional forms, such as Alolan Ninetales and Galarian Corsola. While these redesigns have been admittedly hit or miss at best, it does bring an element of uniqueness to the newer games and relearning how best to use these Pokemon with their new typing.

Unsurprisingly, Legends Arceus has continued with this trend, amid the flurry of other changes it brought to the Pokemon world. Sneasel's new Hisuian form has undergone quite the transformation in terms of typing, going from what was once a Dark/Ice-type to a dual Fighting/Poison typing.

Still, fans will probably take kindly to this change, as Sneasel and Sneasler have some of the better models in terms of Hisuian character designs. Not only that, but PLA has also given the Sharp Claw Pokemon a vital new role in the game as a means of transportation. There's actually a Sneasler helping players explore the overworld as one of the five rideable Pokemon in Legends Arceus. With the Sneasler mount, the Pokemon will carry you around in its basket so you can access higher-up areas, like climbing up the snowy mountains in Alabaster Icelands to find other fan-favorites like Riolu and Alpha Lucario.

Where to find Hisuian Sneasel in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Trainers can encounter Hisuian Sneasel in Coronet Highlands, located along the Celestica Trail, which is to the south of Primeval Grotto. To access this area, you'd first need to have calmed down the third Frenzied Noble Pokemon. Watch out, though, as Hisuian Sneasel is one aggressive Pokemon to face off against.

  1. Quell Hisuian Arcanine, the third Noble Pokemon in PLA, in Cobalt Coastlines. Then make your way over to the fourth zone, Coronet Highlands.
  2. Unlock the Sneasler mount by fighting Ingo at Clamberclaw Cliffs.
  3. From the Cliffs, move westward to the Primeval Grotto area then head down to reach Celestica Trail.
  4. Along the trail, navigate further west until you see a pond area near a waterfall, where you should be able to encounter Hisuian Sneasel.
  5. Your best bet would be to go into stealth mode rather than trying to engage Sneasel in battle, as this wild Pokemon will attack right away as soon as it notices you. Use a Stealth spray, crouch through the grass, and position yourself behind it.
  6. Throw a Pokeball to catch Hisuian Sneasel; best if you use a Great Ball or better, otherwise if the Pokemon breaks free, be prepared to whittle it down in battle.

Later on in the game, despite no longer being an Ice-type, Hisuian Sneasel and the Alpha variant will be relishing the cold wilderness at Avalugg's Legacy and Glacier Terrace area within the Alabaster Icelands. At this snowy area, follow the same steps as above when you get to Avalugg's Legacy, using a stealth strategy to sneak up on the Pokemon. Luckily, there's snow-covered grass in the area so you can tumble back into hiding and try to avoid triggering a battle even if the first capture attempt fails.

How to evolve Hisuian Sneasel into Sneasler

In the past, trainers would use the Razor Claw item to evolve Sneasel into Weavile and this would have to be done at night, perhaps in tribute to the Pokemon's half Dark typing. In Legends Arceus, players will still need to make use of Razor Claw, but during the day this time around, to evolve Hisuian Sneasel into Sneasler.

If you've got luck on your side, some wild Hisuian Sneasel will actually be holding the Razor Claw. They will drop the item when you catch them or take them down in battle. But if you don't have a Razor Claw on hand, you can purchase the item for 1,400 Merit Points at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. Tap on Razor Claw in your inventory to use it on Hisuian Sneasel and trigger the Pokemon's evolution—and now you've just added a strong physical attacker in Sneasler to your Legends Arceus team.

On the other hand, if you're looking for the Johto variant of Sneasel and its evolved form, Weavile, you'll have to try your luck with rare space-time distortion zones. For accessing all of our Pokemon Legends Arceus guides, click here.
