Vontaze Burfict spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals, but that does not mean that the linebacker has fond memories of his time there.

Now a member of the Oakland Raiders, Burfict took a little shot at the Bengals this week.

“I just think it’s exciting for people to see what type of team we have because the team chemistry we have is just amazing,” according to Michael Wagaman of The Associated Press. “This is my second team, but it’s the first time I’ve had a team like this and everybody gets along. It doesn’t matter what type of day it is. We’re all here to see each other get better and motivate each other. We’ve got a lot of characters, in a good way.”

Burfict was released by Cincinnati back in March, so perhaps that is the reason for his antipathy toward the Bengals.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, went undrafted but eventually landed in Cincinnati in 2012, where he proceeded to play all 16 games while totaling 127 tackles, a sack and a couple of fumble recoveries.

Then, the following year, Burfict once again appeared in all 16 contests and racked up a league-leading 177 tackles to go along with three sacks, an interception, a forced fumbles, a pair of fumble recoveries, six passes defended, and a defensive touchdown, earning a Pro Bowl selection.

But, since then, injuries and suspensions severely limited Burfict, as he never participated in more than 11 games in any one season from that point moving forward.
