The Texas Rangers are World Series bound for the first time since 2011 after back-to-back shellackings of the Houston Astros in Game 6 and 7 of the American League Championship Series.

A huge part of the team going back for the first time in over a decade was Adolis Garcia, who hit an incredulous five home runs and 15 RBIs in the series, making himself an easy choice for ALCS MVP after setting the MLB record for most RBIs in any postseason series, per Rangers Today's Jeff Wilson.

“You can't really deny that October has that type of emotion, has that type of situation around it,” Garcia explained afterwards.

“I just try to keep myself focused on the task at hand, try to perform, try to control the things that I can, and have the success that we can have. When there’s a lot of emotions, the fans out there, they are rallying for their team, it fuels me. It's motivation that helps me out when I'm playing.”

Garcia played hero in both of the final two games in Houston. He hit a grand slam that sealed the victory in Game 6, and followed it up with an incredible four-hit, five-RBI performance in Game 7 that included two home runs.

It looks like the relentless booing he heard from the faithful at Minute Maid Park only fuelled him to perform better, as the Rangers walked over the Astros 11-4 in Game 7 and ensured there would be at least two more games at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

“He does show emotion, but he really showed it when he came in,” manager Bruce Bochy said about the best player in the series. “He fired up the whole club. That seemed like it just got us going. And it got contagious. I have to credit with him what happened early in that ballgame, in the whole game, how excited he was and how fired up he got the whole club.”

Adolis Garcia's Rangers will be the home team for the World Series, which begins Friday night against either the Philadelphia Phillies or Arizona Diamondbacks. They'll play Game 7 of the NLCS on Tuesday.
