The Toronto Raptors have another hurt body to deal with. Already without small forward Norman Powell due to a hip injury, the Raptors saw point guard Delon Wright leave Wednesday’s contest against the New Orleans Pelicans after hurting his right shoulder, per Eric Koreen of The Athletic.

This isn’t good news for Wright, who went under the knife last year to fix the same shoulder, causing him to play in just 27 games last season.

Prior to his exit, Delon Wright scored zero points but contributed four assists and three steals for the Raptors. The second-year guard out of Utah entered the contest averaging 8.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 21.7 minutes per game, mainly serving as the chief reliever of starter Kyle Lowry.

At best, Wright could be considered day-to-day for now.

In case Delon Wright will be out for an extended time, expect Fred VanVleet to absorb most of Wright’s minutes. Though undersized, VanVleet is capable of handling point guard duties, especially when given enough playing time. The former Wichita State Shocker is averaging 11.2 points and 5.5 assists per 36 minutes.

After finishing their assignment in New Orleans, the Raptors will head back home for a showdown with the New York Knicks.
