The NBA's plans for a play-in tournament for the playoffs have been met with some conflicting reactions from throughout the NBA. Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet has come out to share his sentiments on the idea and the 27-year-old did not hold back with his statement.

In a rather hot take on the issue, FVV explained why he thinks the idea of the play-in tournament can be both good and bad:

“If we're not in it then it's stupid & it was a bad decision,” VanVleet said, via Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports. “… But if somehow we make the play-in then obviously that type of mentality is not gonna work for you. I see both sides of it… I hope they make all the money they were looking to make off it.”

I'd have to say: excellent assessment from VanVleet here. What he's saying here is that the play-in tournament will be beneficial for teams that will be given a chance to make the postseason cut because of this unique play format. If you're a player on any of these said teams then you'll definitely be in agreement with the NBA's decision to implement a play-in tournament.

On the other hand, other teams who won't be affected are likely to say that it simply isn't worth the time. As Fred VanVleet implied in his statement, it's all about perspective.

The Raptors stud also makes a good point about the mini-tournament presenting itself as another opportunity for the NBA to increase its profits. Yup, he just had to go there.
