Toronto Raptors star small forward Kawhi Leonard won’t play Monday night against the Utah Jazz due to left foot soreness.

Leonard suffered a jammed foot in last Friday’s victory against the Phoenix Suns. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year sat out Sunday's win against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center as well.

In his first season with the Raptors, Kawhi Leonard has gotten off to a terrific start. He played in only nine games last season for the San Antonio Spurs due to a lingering quadriceps injury, so many around the league were wondering what the two-time All-Star was going to look like this season on the court.

Through seven games, Kawhi Leonard is playing at a very high level for the Raptors. The 27-year-old California native is averaging 26.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting an efficient 50.4 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from beyond the arc and 87.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The Raptors enter their matchup against the Jazz with a record of 9-1. With Leonard in the mix, Toronto has a great chance to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Kawhi Leonard told reporters on Saturday that the injury is not serious. It's probably a pain tolerance thing at this point. Since we're so early in the season, and the Raptors need a healthy Kawhi Leonard in the playoffs, there's no reason to rush The Claw back.
