Thursday night, Toronto Raptors superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard will make his much-anticipated return to a place he called home for seven years.

Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors will be in San Antonio taking on the Spurs, and the two-time Defensive Player of the Year says “it's going to be fun” playing against his old team, according to Jabari Young of The Atheltic:

Kawhi Leonard was a two-time All-Star with the Spurs, won two Defensive Player of the Year awards, and won the 2014 Finals MVP award. Pretty much everyone thought Leonard was going to retire with the Spurs and spend his entire NBA career there like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and David Robinson did.

However, what happened last season with Kawhi Leonard and San Antonio is something no one saw coming.

Leonard only played in nine games due to a lingering quadriceps injury and he reportedly became upset with how the organization was handling his ailment. The Claw then shocked the NBA world when he requested a trade from the Spurs during the offseason.

San Antonio traded Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to the Raptors in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 2019 first-round draft pick.

Leonard is going to get booed all night on Thursday. The fans in San Antonio are very upset at what transpired last season and they feel like Kawhi quit on them. It's going to be great theater for NBA fans everywhere.
