Earlier this week, the Toronto Raptors pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade to acquire All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard that included sending All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs.

This has changed the landscape for the Raptors heading into next season, and it doesn't appear that the front office is done quite yet. Ian Begley of ESPN is reporting that several other executives around the league believe the team is still motivated to shed additional salary from their payroll next season.

The Raptors currently have around $136 million in total annual salary for the upcoming season that puts them roughly $35 million over the salary cap. There previously were mentioned in trade rumors around center Jonas Valanciunas, who has two years left in his four-year, $64 million deal. He is set to make $16.5 million for the 2018-19 campaign and has a player option worth $17.6 million for the year after.

Following the trade of DeRozan, the Raptors could look to move yet another long mainstay in order to create less of a salary cap burden. Danny Green, who was also acquired as part of the Leonard trade, is in the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal, but he may stay in the mix for next season as the team will shed his salary next summer when his contract is off the books.

There are many different ways that Toronto can approach this situation, as the team has a few feasible players on their roster that they could move in the right deal, such as forwards C.J. Miles and Norman Powell, who each can be reliable contributors off the bench. There is no rush to get another trade completed, but it is clear that the team is looking to shake things up in order to finally break on through in the Eastern Conference.
