Fred VanVleet had a quiet evening on Sunday as the Toronto Raptors blew out the Brooklyn Nets to complete a clean sweep in their first-round playoffs matchup. This is not the typical performance we've grown accustomed to from VanVleet, who himself has been excellent for the defending champs all season long. So much so, that he is heavily expected to be one of the hottest free agents in the offseason, with teams like the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, and Detroit Pistons reportedly willing to go all in on the 6-foot-1 point guard.

This report comes from the very reliable Shams Charania of The Athletic:

VanVleet is a shoe free agent and has multiple suitors for a new deal, sources say. And on the court, expect a strong market for the free-agent-to-be: Detroit, New York and Phoenix are expected to emerge as suitors for VanVleet outside Toronto, sources said.

This does not come as a surprise, considering how Fred VanVleet has been one of the best players in one of the best teams in the NBA today. Following the summer exit of reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard from Toronto, the Raptors were not expected to be a strong contender for a repeat, but they have since proven the doubters wrong.

This has been thanks in large part to VanVleet, who has averaged across the board career-best numbers of 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.9 steals in 35.7 minutes per contest. He's also knocking down 2.7 triples per game on a 43.4-percent clip. Clearly, the promotion to the starting unit has worked wonders for the undrafted guard.

VanVleet will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, and while the Raptors will likely do everything they can to keep him on board, they will be facing some tough competition for his signature.
