The Toronto Raptors could use their vacant 14th roster spot to add some frontcourt depth and Marcin Gortat is a player that reportedly has interest in signing with the franchise, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
Gortat began this season with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was waived on Feb. 7.
In 47 games with the Clippers this season, Gortat averaged 5.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 53.2 percent from the field and 72.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Gortat's best years as a pro came with the Washington Wizards. The Raptors have had many battles with The Polish Hammer in the past. Gortat put up 11.6 points and 9.2 rebounds in 402 games with the Wizards. Washington traded him to the Clippers last summer.
Toronto has the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at 46-17. In the frontcourt, the Raptors have Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam. Adding Marcin Gortat wouldn't be such a bad idea since he's a proven scorer and rebounder in the NBA.
Because Gortat was waived before March 1, he's eligible to play in the postseason. The 35-year-old has also been linked to the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks.
Milwaukee is adding Pau Gasol, though, so Gortat is probably off the Bucks' radar now.
