Buckle your seat belts, ladies and gentleman, because we have an early candidate for the absolute worst take of 2022. Baltimore Ravens star cornerback Marlon Humphrey bashes Robert Pattinson and The Batman film. Not only did he trash the movie, but Humphrey tweeted spoilers, ruining the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. So just a heads up, there are spoilers within this piece all thanks to Humphrey's Twitter rant.
First off, Marlon Humphrey didn't know who was playing Batman until he started watching the film. Not even sure how that's possible considering the amount of advertising we've seen for this movie over the last two years. The Ravens star even claims he “fell asleep twice,” proving Humphrey might just be the most boring person alive.
Then he rants about the car chase scene, in which Marlon Humphrey just nitpicks small details that aren't important. Also, Maserati's are capable of driving up to 190 miles per hour. That's not even thinking about the possibility of the Penguin having a suped-up version, making his vehicle move even faster. The Ravens' cornerback somehow wasn't impressed by one of the most exciting scenes in the film.
Based on these two tweets alone, clearly, Humphrey went into this movie with a negative mindset about the film. It's possible as soon as he realized Robert Pattinson played Edward in Twilight he just tuned the entire movie out. Luckily Marlon Humphrey is good at football because he'd make for an awful film critic.
His last rip on The Batman is the scene after Bruce Wayne is knocked unconscious from the bomb. Humphrey points out that the cops failed to remove his mask without realizing Officer James Gordon is in the room likely preventing people from taking the mask off. The Ravens' star should consider thinking before tweeting. However, how many people actually follow that rule?
Maybe Marlon Humphrey was wanting the old-school Batman, with the “boom” and the “pows.” That's not what this movie is and it's a refreshing take on the masked crusader. Go watch the movie for yourself and don't listen to the Ravens' cornerback.
