Real Madrid is the champions of Europe, but in Lionel Messi's eyes, they weren't the best team in the UCL.

On Monday, the PSG star revealed that he doesn't believe Los Blancos necessarily deserved to win the most prestigious club competition in the world.

Via TyC Sports:

“Champions League are not always won by strongest team. Real Madrid was not strongest. I've lived it all my life, I know what Real is, I know it could happen [comeback], that out of nowhere they score a goal for you and automatically change a game.”

In all fairness, Messi does have a point. Real Madrid was on the brink of elimination on three different occasions against PSG, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. But thanks to Karim Benzema in particular, they were able to pull through and advance to the final. The LaLiga title-holders didn't exactly dominate Liverpool but managed to put away one of their lone opportunities.

Manchester City was considered one of the best teams in the Champions League but they collapsed in the semifinals. Liverpool? Probably overall a better team than Real Madrid. But, the Spanish giants were the ones who overcame the adversity and got it done.

It doesn't really matter what Lionel Messi thinks and Los Blancos won't care. The club will just be ecstatic a 14th UCL title is sitting in their trophy case.
