Real Madrid CF has already let it be known that they plan on going hard after acquiring Kylian Mbappe's services this summer. With both Rinaldo and Leo Messi getting long in the tooth, Mbappe is considered by many to be the greatest player in the game today. However, Madrid is not stopping there, accoring to ESPN. There are reports now that they are considering making a run at Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland this summer as well.

Manchester City is still the clear favorite to land the Norwegian superstar footballer. But Real Madrid is making in-roads to undercutting that deal.

Part of the issue for Real Madrid is that they are not looking for Haaland to overlap with forward Karim Benzema. Benzema's contract does not expire until June of 2023. So, ideally Haaland would stay put for another season in the Bundesliga before making a jump. But Haaland's camp has made it clear that he wants to move this summer.

Complicating matters is the amount of suitors for Haaland. Barcelona has already held talks with Haaland, but the current financial situation makes Barca a bit of a long shot. PSG will also likely be looking for a superstar to fill the void that will be left when Mbappe leaves for Bernabeu in Madrid.

One thing working in the favor of Real Madrid is the existing relationship between club President Florentino Perez and Dortmund executives. Haaland's destination is likely to be known in the coming weeks. If Real Madrid somehow pulled this off, they might be looking at another string of Champions League titles.
