During the offseason, the Boston Red Sox made a rather important acquisition, signing infielder Trevor Story to a six-year contract. Story previously made his name playing at Coors Field for the Colorado Rockies. As Major League Baseball's Opening Day is finally here, Story shared a message for the fans of both his former club and his new club.

Story left a heartfelt message for Rockies fans and his former teammates on Twitter. It read: “To my Rockies fam – thank you for your love and support over the last 10 years. To my teammates – taking the field with y'all to accomplish a common goal is a bond that I will always cherish. To my coaches – thank you for pushing me and believing in an 18-year-old kid from Irving, TX. To the fans – it was an honor to play for you in such a special city that we all love. Colorado will always have a place in our hearts.”

As Story turns a page in his career, he is looking forward to playing in Boston.

“Next chapter, BOSTON! This is where I belong. LFG” were Story's comments.

Trevor Story left one organization that has struggled to consistently be in contention for a World Series for another that seems to win one almost every five years. Once the Red Sox ended the Curse of the Bambino in 2004, they followed that up with World Series titles in 2007, 2013 and 2018.

The Red Sox reached the ALCS last year, despite being projected to miss the playoffs. Story certainly helps fill out an already loaded lineup with the likes of J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers.

The biggest question for Boston will be if their pitching can hold up.
