When the Washington Redskins drafted Jimmy Moreland in the seventh-round back in April, it understandably didn't get too much attention. Moreland was a small-school prospect who played FCS ball at James Madison, so he's used to getting overlooked.

Many analysts projected him to go sooner, but he ended up falling to the 227th overall pick. But while nobody has been paying attention, the cornerback has quietly been putting in work.

Speaking to Ben Standig of The Athletic recently, veteran cornerback Josh Norman singled him out for praise.

“(Jimmy) Moreland is really good, really good. He’s going to make a big impact I think for us. You never know, he might move to the nickel spot and prove himself worthy. He’s always around the ball. He has a knack for it. I’m looking forward to watching him,” Norman said when asked which young corner has been standing out.

Norman is one of the leaders of what should be a pretty good Redskins defense in 2019. Washington's defense made major strides last year, but it got overshadowed by all the big injuries the team suffered, like the devastating leg injury of Alex Smith.

Norman still has two years left on the five-year, $75 million pact he signed a few seasons ago. Greg Manusky's unit should take another step forward in 2019, and it sounds like Moreland could be a part of that.

If Norman is right it'd be a pretty big achievement for a seventh-rounder to make a big impact as a rookie.

That being said, a prospect like Moreland is used to having to prove people wrong.
