Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson did not practice on Thursday due to a toe injury, but Redskins head coach Bill Callahan is not  concerned about Peterson's status for his team's Week 12 matchup with the Detroit Lions.

“He’ll be ready for Sunday. No question in my mind,” Callahan said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Peterson is coming off of a rather lackluster performance in a loss to the New York Jets in which he carried the ball nine times for just 25 yards. On the season overall, he has rushed for 516 yards and a touchdown while averaging 4.2 yards per attempt.

The 34-year-old signed a two-year extension with the Redskins this past offseason after a bounceback year in 2018.

Following a 2017 campaign in which Peterson played 10 games between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals and managed just 529 yards and a couple of scores while logging a meager 3.4 yards per carry, Peterson joined Washington for last season and totaled 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns, registering 4.2 yards per tote.

It obviously wasn't prime Peterson, but it was a major step in the right direction after having not rushed for 1,000 yards since 2015 (he played in just three games in 2016 due to injuries).

Of course, the veteran is most known for his remarkable run with the Minnesota Vikings from 2007 through 2016, when he made seven Pro Bowl appearances and earned four First-Team All-Pro selections and led the NFL in rushing three times.

However, injuries derailed Peterson's last few seasons with the club.

The Redskins are an NFC-worst 1-9 on the year.
