The Washington Redskins selected Dwayne Haskins with the 15th overall pick of the NFL draft last spring, so by all accounts, it looked like they had found their quarterback of the future.

So why, then, has there been speculation that the Redskins could potentially take University of Alabama signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa with the second overall pick of the draft next month, and why has there been some talk that they could potentially swing a trade for Cam Newton?

Well, one thing is for sure: Washington running back Derrius Guice thinks Haskins should be under center moving forward.

Haskins played collegiate football at Ohio State and was actually touted by some as the most NFL-ready quarterback of a rookie group that included Kyler Murray and Daniel Jones going into 2019.

However, Haskins had the least productive debut season of the three. He played in nine games and made seven starts, and during that time, he threw for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 58.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 76.1.

Albeit, Haskins had shaky protection up front, and outside of wide receiver Terry McLaurin, he was limited in terms of weapons, but some are doubting Haskins' potential moving forward, apparently including the Redskins themselves.

Now, obviously, the Tagovailoa rumors could just be noise and could be Washington's method of trying to create leverage in the draft. As far as the Newton speculation? It just wouldn't make much sense for a rebuilding Redskins club.

More than likely, Haskins will enter 2020 as the starter, and Guice will be happy about it.
