The record books in Washington are going to have to be re-printed. With his 44-yard field goal near the start of the second quarter last night, kicker Dustin Hopkins passed Hall of Fame wideout Art Monk to become number six on Redskins' all-time scoring list.

Hopkins was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and signed with the Saints in 2014. However, a groin injury ended his time in Buffalo and in New Orleans he lost a competition with kicker Zach Hooker.

Hopkins found a home in Washington in 2015 and since then he's hit over 84 percent of his field goals and over 95 percent of his extra points.

Those 93 field goals and 116 extra points are good for 395 career points, five more than Monk's 390.

Monk played in Washington for 14 years, from 1980 through the 1993 season. He caught 65 touchdowns for the team and his record for most receptions in a season— 106 in 1984— stood until broken by Sterling Sharpe, with 108 in 1992. Monk also set the record for career receptions when he caught his 820th against Denver on October 12, 1992.

He became the first player to eclipse 900 receptions and pushed the record up to 940 before being overtaken by Jerry Rice in the final week of his last season, 1995. Arguably, most importantly, he also won three rings in 1983, 1988, and 1992.

Next on the list for Hopkins is kicker Curt Knight, who spent five seasons kicking for Washington in the early 1970's, with 475 career points. Hopkins has a ways to go before he reaches the top of the list. Kicker Mark Mosely scored 1,206 total points over his 13 years with the team. From 1974 to 1985, Mosley hit 417 out of 441 extra points and 263 field goals out of 397 attempts.
