The Washington Redskins are preparing for their Week 7 matchup with the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. Veteran Case Keenum will get the start for Sunday's game, while rookie first-round pick Dwayne Haskins watches and learns.

Though Haskins is on the bench, he wants everyone to know that their doubts over his ability to process information are wrong. Via JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington:

“That's really a joke, because like I pride myself on reading defenses and knowing protections and stuff like that. So, I can't really pay my mind to that. I just got to do what I got to do,” said Haskins.

Haskins was an Academic All-Big Ten and OSU Scholar-Athlete twice during his Ohio State days. Claims that he lacks in the intelligence area don't look to have much truth to it.

Haskins has played once in 2019, a game where he came off the bench to relieve Keenum. He threw three interceptions in a loss to the New York Giants. By doing so, critics surfaced that he was not pro-ready in the sense that he could not read a defense, despite him earning praise for the same abilities coming out of Ohio State.

In actuality, Washington benched Haskins for a multitude of reasons, with many not being under his control. The now-fired Jay Gruden reportedly did not want him in the draft, their offensive line could lead to injuries and he generally was set up to fail. Washington can surround Haskins with talent in the offseason, not mid-season.
