The disconnect between Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden and quarterback Dwayne Haskins is palpable.

According to Les Carpenter of The Washington Post, Gruden did not want the Redskins to draft Haskins, and Haskins can sense it.

Gruden has fallen under harsh criticism this week for throwing Haskins into the line of fire against the New York Giants mid-game last Sunday following an injury to Case Keenum.

Haskins looked ill-prepared and had a nightmarish outing, completing just nine of his 17 passes for 107 yards and three interceptions in what ended up being a 24-3 loss.

The Redskins have also not named a starting quarterback for this Sunday against the New England Patriots, but the general consensus is that it will be veteran Colt McCoy.

Of course, it doesn't help matters that Gruden is also coaching for his job, so trying to develop a rookie quarterback in the middle of an 0-4 season likely won't win him many games.

Gruden took over as Washington's head coach in 2014. Since then, he has gone just 35-48-1, leading the Redskins to an NFC East division title in 2015 and one more winning season in 2016 when the team went 8-7-1.

The Redskins chose Haskins, an Ohio State product, with the 15th overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April, which came as a bit of a surprise, as many felt that Haskins would go to the Giants at No. 6.

Instead, New York elected to take Duke's Daniel Jones, and Haskins fell into Washington's laps.

But apparently, the Redskins' coaching staff never wanted any part of the 22-year-old.
