Josh Johnson has bounced around the NFL since he first arrived in 2009. The 32-year-old might be the true definition of a journeyman, and before last week he hadn't started a game in the regular season since 2011. Back then, he was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Johnson was 16-for-25 with one touchdown pass and 151 yards in a 16-13 win. It was his first as an NFL quarterback.

He also injured his ankle in that game, which was somewhat of a sad irony. The good news, according to Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, is that Johnson is back on the field and participating in full practices.

Johnson has fully participated in practice on both Tuesday and Wednesday in advance of a short-week Saturday game against the Titans. And Washington, which still has a realistic shot at the playoffs, will need Johnson to play and to play well if they hope to knock off the Titans and set the stage for a possible win-and-in against the Eagles — if the Vikings lose one of their last two games.

Mark Sanchez is the backup to Johnson.

Johnson now has a 56.4 completion percentage on 218 pass attempts in his career. He has thrown seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions with 1,388 yards passing over the course of 31 games, including six starts. The Redskins were forced to go to Johnson as their starting quarterback after both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy suffered broken legs. Both QBs have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
