Just a few weeks ago, Josh Johnson was out of the National Football League, but after an impressive performance last week in relief of Mark Sanchez he now has gotten the starting nod for the Washington Redskins and he says he feels like he is a kid going to Disneyland.
Johnson got his last start after Josh Freeman was injured when the two were together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so it's been a little while. Against the New York Giants, Johnson led the Redskins on two touchdown drives and that was enough for him to get the starting nod this weekend.
“This is like going to Disneyland every day for me, for real, because just a week ago, I was at home in the hood, chilling with the kids, chilling with my family and thinking on the couch that I might never play in the NFL again,” Johnson said, via the Washington Post. “But a week later, look at me now, I’m here starting with a great opportunity to get us a victory this Sunday against Jacksonville.”
Johnson has spent time with 13 different NFL franchises and is going to have a tough matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he is excited about the chance and thinks he is ready for it.
“I'm excited that we're playing against this talented defense and I'm excited that we're playing against these talented (cornerbacks), this pass rush, these linebackers,” Johnson said via Yahoo. “It's a great test and I wouldn't have it any other way than to get an opportunity to go against somebody where you have to earn it and you have to prove that you deserve to be on this field.”
