The Paul Millsap trade rumors can come to an end now.

Atlanta Hawks general manager Wes Wilcox is reportedly now informing teams that Millsap is off the block and no longer available in trade talks.

This may come as a big surprise to many after the many reports over the last few weeks indicated the exact opposite.

Millsap will be a free agent next summer so the thought was that Atlanta had decided it would not be able to keep him and was thus moving on in another direction. This seemed confirmed when the Hawks traded Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Reportedly, the Nuggets, Kings, 76ers and Celtics were a few of the teams that were interested in trading for Millsap.

It's odd to think the Hawks are now determined to compete in the East after trading the defending champions their best sharpshooter. But it may also be true that trying to hold on to keep Millsap means more of a “win now” mindset is in place.

The Millsap trade rumor saga may already be over, but the deadline is not here yet so there is still a chance the Hawks could change their minds and deal him. But maybe for the time being that will not be the case.
