The New York Knicks have agreed on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with free agent point guard Jarrett Jack, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

The Knicks were keeping an eye on Jack and Trey Burke in past weeks, looking for that extra veteran to help guide rookie Frank Ntilikina through his first year in the league.

Jack has been a successful veteran in the league and has proved to be an efficient floor general even going into his thirties, but a couple of untimely injuries have derailed the last few years of his career.

He first sustained an ACL tear in his second season with the Brooklyn Nets in 2015-16, playing only in 32 games as the starting point guard of the team. Jack then had a shot to play with the Atlanta Hawks, but the team chose to release him as his injury had no fully healed.

Later in the season, the Georgia Tech standout played two games with the New Orleans Pelicans before sustaining a meniscus tear that forced the team to waive him, having faced a myriad of injuries in the first half of the season.

Jack has career averages of 11 points and 4.5 assists per game — a resume that should prove convincing to merit some minutes on the court and a great asset to have coach Ntilikina through a vast transition in his rookie season.
