After a disappointing season filled with tension in the locker room and an early playoff exit, the Houston Rockets are in search of a new head coach to lead the team for next season.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Rockets recently interviewed former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.

Many were surprised by Cavs’ ownerships’ decision to fire Blatt earlier in the season. While there were reports of issues with Blatt’s ability to control the locker room over LeBron James, he still coached the Cavs to an 83-4 record and a 2015 finals appearance. Albeit, with arguably the best player in the world.

Though much of the success is, and should be, credited to LeBron (he’s lead the Cavs back-to-back sweeps in the playoffs), Blatt has had tremendous success as a head coach in his own right, even without King James. While coaching in Europe, he won the Israeli League Coach of the Year award four times along with a Euroleague Coach of the Year title in 2014.

With so many head coaches fired this year, there have been a number of options for teams looking to fill the position. The Rockets have missed out on some of the bigger name head coaching targets so far. We will see whether they decide to go with Blatt or look somewhere else.
