The Houston Rockets have claimed big man Deyonta Davis off of waivers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Davis spent the 2018-19 campaign with the Atlanta Hawks, playing in just nine games. When he was on the floor, he averaged four points and four rebounds over 13.1 minutes per game while shooting 68.2 percent from the floor.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Michigan State, was originally selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round (31st pick overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft, but he was immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Davis ended up appearing in 36 contests during his rookie year, registering 1.6 points and 1.7 boards across 6.6 minutes a night while making 51.1 percent of his field-goal attempts and 55.6 percent of his free throws.

He then saw more extensive playing time the following season, participating in 62 games and making six starts. During that time, Davis posted 5.8 points and four rebounds through 15.2 minutes per game while connecting on 60.8 percent of his shots and draining 66.7 percent of his foul shots.

Then, last July, the Grizzlies traded Davis to the Sacramento Kings in a deal that sent Garrett Temple to Memphis.

The Kings proceeded to waive Davis a couple of months later, and shortly before the regular season, Davis signed with the Golden State Warriors. However, his time with the Warriors was very brief, as Golden State cut him the next day.

Davis then went on to sign a 10-day contract with the Hawks this past March and then signed on for the remainder of the season.
