Houston Rockets star James Harden could miss the team's showdown against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday because of a cervical strain.
Harden, who scored at least 30 points for the 32nd straight game, is believed to have picked up the injury during Thursday's 111-106 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He'll likely test things out during morning until before tip-off to see if he will be able to play against the Dubs.
If the reigning MVP misses the game against Golden State, then his impressive scoring streak will also come to an end.
The last time the Rockets faced the Warriors back in January 4th, Harden notched a triple-double with 44 points, 15 assists and 10 boards to help lead Houston to a 135-134 overtime win.
Coincidentally, Golden State has only lost one game since.
The Rockets are currently the fifth team in the Western Conference with a 33-25 record. If Harden will miss a significant amount of time, it could hurt the team's chances of holding onto that spot, as the sixth-seeded Utah Jazz and seventh-seeded San Antonio Spurs are only one game behind them.
The Warriors on the other hand, have regained the top seed in the West, and are continuously widening their gap against the Denver Nuggets, who are currently second. The Dubs are also just two games behind the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks.
The final stretch of the season is underway, and every game matters for all the teams who are aspiring to make the playoffs. The Rockets will want to end up as one of the top four teams in the West in order for them to gain at least a homecourt advantage in the first round of the postseason.
