James Harden’s reaction to NBA closing down facilities

Rockets, James Harden

Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden was shooting on the practice court with assistant coach John Lucas when the NBA ordered the close of its facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Harden had a very confused look on his face after hearing the news:

Rockets star James Harden was shooting on the Rockets’ practice court with assistant coach John Lucas on Thursday afternoon when news reached them that the NBA had ordered the close of facilities. Keith Jones, the Rockets’ executive VP of basketball operations and a longtime athletic trainer, walked into the gym to inform Harden and Lucas.

“James just had this look on his face like, ‘What do we do?'” Jones told ESPN.

The NBA suspended the season following Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert’s positive test. Thus far, no one on the Rockets is believed to have contracted the virus.

Houston went 40-24 before the season was suspended. The team was in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Harden was averaging 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists prior to play being suspended. The former MVP was shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 86.1 percent from the free-throw line.

NBA owners would like to resume the season in the summer if it’s possible. The CDC is currently recommending no large events of 50 or more people for the next two months.
