Houston Rockets power forward PJ Tucker is close to signing a new endorsement deal with Nike, according to Jabari Young of CNBC.

Tucker has been with Nike throughout his NBA career. His previous deal with Nike expired on Oct. 1.

Tucker also received interest from Puma, Adidas and New Balance, his agent Andre Buck of Arete Sports Agency confirmed in an interview. The 34-year-old player is expected to command a multiyear, six-figure sneaker deal that would be the largest endorsement deal of his career.

Part of the intrigue of signing Tucker is the North Carolina native’s massive shoe collection, labeling Tucker the “Sneaker King.” Its estimated Tucker has more than 5,000 pairs of sneakers in his collection, and since the NBA lifted their sneaker rule in 2018, he attempts to wear a different pair each game.

Tucker love his sneakers. The Rockets forward often switches sneakers at halftime of games just for the fun of it.

Other notable players with Nike are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In 14 games for the Rockets this season, Tucker is averaging 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He's shooting 53.2 percent from the field, 47.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Rockets are 11-3 on the season, good for second place in the Western Conference standings.
