The Houston Rockets have endured an agonizing 2020-21 season, but governor Tilman Fertitta is still thrilled with the team's future outlook.

Fertitta expressed confidence in head coach Stephen Silas and general manager Rafael Stone despite the fact the Rockets are likely to finish with the worst record in the NBA:

“I never thought I could feel this good when I've been so upset about losing,” Fertitta said, via Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “But when I look at all the draft picks that we have and the future, I'm just happy. I know it's unusual to feel this good with your coach and your general manager, but I do.”

The Rockets' season was basically doomed from the start when James Harden requested a trade and Russell Westbrook sought out.

Indeed, Houston has fallen to the bottom of the league after eight straight playoff appearances. Yet, Fertitta chooses to see the positives.

The Rockets governor feels Silas has beautifully navigated a slew of injuries and a lot of chaos:

“Silas has just shown a great ability to develop these guys, and he's had thrown at him something that's unprecedented: To have 29 guys play for a team – and play real minutes,” Fertitta said, via MacMahon. “All these injuries happened this year. This will never happen again. It's hard to believe we were 11-10 and then all the injuries started.”

Fertitta also explained Stone did well to go after young talents like Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr. as the Rockets build for the future. He also cited Houston's growing stock of future draft picks that could pay dividends down the line.

It's been a trying season for the Rockets in terms of the win-loss record. But Fertitta is very pleased with how his first-year head coach and new GM have handled a tough situation.
