As the winter transfer window is just around the corner, Barcelona fullback Sergino Dest is now garnering interest from two notable clubs.
As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Marca, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are both showing an early transfer interest in Dest ahead of next month’s winter transfer window.
Marca adds that Dest does not “appear” to be in the plans of recently appointed Barca manager Xavi Hernandez. The Catalan side currently values Dest at a €30 million-€35 million price tag, which comes a year after the club shelled out an initial fee of €21 million to acquire him from Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax.
Bayern Munich was heavily linked with a move for Dest over last year’s summer transfer window. In the end, Dest opted to join now-former Barca manager Ronald Koeman at the Catalan side, but this has not stopped the Bundesliga powerhouse from pursuing him. For one, the reigning Bundesliga champions once again made a push to sign him in the summer, although such attempts failed in the end.
Dest is currently in his second season with Barca. He has featured in 16 matches in all competitions over the campaign, which has included playing time minutes as a winger upfront. He has been sidelined as of late due to an adductor injury, although he is slated to make his return to action following the ongoing winter break.
It will be noteworthy to see whether Barcelona opts to offload Dest next month. The American international is not expected to have a shortage of interested suitors, especially as Chelsea has also shown a preliminary interest in him as of late.
