Following the Chicago Bears' decision to not match the two-year, $10 offer sheet presented by the New Orleans Saints to wide receiver Cameron Meredith, it has him on track to join another team for the first time in his career. It will mark the next chapter in a new uniform.

The Bears' unwillingness to match the contract offer was likely due to his current situation rehabbing from a torn ACL that he suffered last August that pushed him out of action for the entire 2017 season. During a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL radio, Meredith stated that he doesn't anticipate missing any portion of next season.

The 25-year-old will be more than a year removed from the injury, which is well over the typical timetable for a full recovery from that procedure. Meredith hasn't experienced any setbacks up to this point and should be available to participate in the team organized workouts at some point this offseason.

His addition to the Saints provides another proven asset to the passing game for star quarterback Drew Brees to utilize alongside Pro Bowl wideout Michael Thomas. Prior to his ACL tear, Meredith was coming off a career-best campaign where he recorded 66 catches for 888 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In fact, he was emerging as the Bears' top receiving option and would have assumed that role last season had he not suffered his injury the third preseason game.

New Orleans is taking a chance on Meredith being the same player he was before the injury, which could largely benefit them if he can prove that. He is a young wide receiver that has shown plenty of promise to develop into a star at his position. With him expected to be in the fold to start the season, it will provide even more firepower to the Saints' explosive offense in the 2018 campaign.
