It wasn't a hangover that had Drew Brees not feeling like his usual self on Saturday. A knee issue the New Orleans Saints quarterback woke up with got him feeling different, not in a positive way.

Five days later, Brees feels like his usual self. After a full practice on Thursday, the 40-year-old quarterback says the knee issue is no more.

It was actually before the game,” Brees told Saints reporters on Thursday. “It's actually progressively gotten better since then so all good.”

Brees found himself on Wednesday's estimated injury report due to the knee injury. He previously missed five games due to a thumb injury suffered in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams. However, as the season goes on, he feels young again.

“I feel better as the season goes on,” Brees said. “Honestly, I just feel more in rhythm. I feel like my process is really fine-tuned by that point. That's when I want to be playing my best football and so I feel good right now.”

As usual, Brees is enjoying another efficient year in 2019. In 10 games played, the Hall of Fame-bound passer has tallied 2,726 yards, 24 touchdowns, and four interceptions on a 75.3% completion rate.

Brees has the Saints at 12-3 heading into Sunday's bout with the reeling 5-10 Carolina Panthers. The record has New Orleans as the third-seed in the NFC Playoffs, meaning they would play in wild card weekend. To avoid the first round, Brees' Saints would have to win and watch the San Francisco 49ers, and Green Bay Packers lose to the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, respectively.
