The New Orleans Saints have so far chugged along just fine without star quarterback Drew Brees. However, they still want their man to return to the pocket as soon as possible.

Brees is also itching to return to the field after injuring his thumb in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams. According to the doctors, he's expected to return during the team's bye week.

Brees believes that he can beat the prognosis, though. He's confident that he can suit up for the Saints earlier than what was expected of him. He's determined to return and make an impact for his team as soon as possible.

Brees chose to undergo surgery to repair the torn ligament in his right thumb. Through the option he chose, as reported by Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams, Brees gets the ability to rehab and make himself available at a faster time.

In the meantime, fans can expect their star quarterback to be on the sidelines and help the team in whatever way he can. It's confirmed that Brees will be at the sideline to help fellow quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill against the Dallas Cowboys.

The team's recent win against the Seattle Seahawks gave him mixed emotions. While he's happy that his team is strong enough to stop a late comeback from Russell Wilson's team, he also revealed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen that is pained him to be absent from the field.

Everything should go back to normal once Brees makes his return from injury. But until that happens, Saints fans can count on their QB1 to provide any sort of assistance he can give the team.
