As the New Orleans Saints face an uncertain offseason ahead, veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan would at the least like to see quarterback Jameis Winston return for the 2022 campaign.

Jordan recently took some time to speak to CBS Sports, where he noted that he aspires to see Winston under center for the Saints next season.

“I'm looking forward to potentially signing Jameis back,” Jordan said.

Overall, Winston had a roller-coaster campaign in his second season with the Saints. He was named as the team’s starting quarterback for the season following Drew Brees’ retirement. After a promising 5-2 start to the campaign coupled with 14 passing touchdowns in seven games played, his season was cut short after suffering a season-ending torn ACL injury during the Week 8 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Taysom Hill and Ian Book are currently set to be the only quarterbacks on the roster from this past season who will return for the 2022 campaign, as both Winston and Trevor Siemian will become unrestricted free agents in March.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis is also on the lookout for a new head coach. In the big picture, he recently noted that “replacing Drew Brees and Sean Payton are pretty important.”

Overall, Jordan is still much confident that even with the departures of both Brees and Payton in back-to-back years, the Saints’ Super Bowl window is not yet closed.

“I think with our defense, we have potential to be even better than we were this past year, and that's before we draft, that's before we add on,” Jordan said. “Just looking at the roster knowing our guys in our locker room, our leaders, and everything that goes with it, we still have this idea where we can win a championship soon.”

It sure is expected to be quite a notable offseason for the Saints.
