New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins posted a couple of emotionally charged videos giving his thoughts about Drew Brees' comments on disrespecting the flag.

At first, Jenkins made clear he didn't agree with what Brees had to say, but did change his tune a little bit after talking with Brees. Since posting the video Jenkins had been pretty quiet before appearing on CBS This Morning on Tuesday morning.

Jenkins said he is still glad that he posted both videos, because the pain that he and other black people feel is real, and it's something that others need to understand:

“I look back, and I’m glad that I chose to post that video,” Jenkins said.

“I thought that it was important that our country understand the pain that black people have been dealing with and that black people carry around,” Jenkins said. “I think we are in that amount where we need truth before we can have reconciliation, and that was an opportunity for me to share my truth, not only to Drew Brees but to anybody who’s watching.”

Malcolm Jenkins did say it's clear that some people are just ignoring what the flag protest is all about. He also said that the anthem is just a talking point that is now actually distracting from the true change that actually needs to happen:

“Honestly, if at this point in time in 2020 people don’t understand what the protest’s about then they are blatantly trying to ignore it,” Jenkins said. “So I try not to waste my time talking about the anthem . . . because it’s a distraction from the actual issues that are plaguing our black and brown communities, the things we need to get fixed.”

For now, it seems Brees and Jenkins are good, but this will continue to be a topic of conversation all offseason and maybe well into the season.
