New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has not reported for the start of the team's training camp, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report.

The Saints have reported and WR Michael Thomas has not arrived at the facility, sources tell me and MikeGarafolo. He’s seeking a new deal and the two sides are not there yet. Until they get there, he’ll stay away.

The 26-year-old Thomas is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will earn a base salary of $1.1 million. He has reportedly been offered a contract worth $18-19 million per year but is apparently seeking a deal in the region of $20 million per year, which would make him by far the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

Thomas has certainly played like one of the best wide receivers in the league since getting drafted in 2016. In his first three years in the league, he's averaged over 100 catches for over 1,200 receiving yards and close to eight touchdowns per season.

Thomas had his best season to date last year as he had 125 catches for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns, which earned him First-Team All-Pro honors. He's gotten better year after year and could still have another level to reach.

With Drew Brees in the last few years of his storied career, the Saints can't afford to lose by far their biggest wide receiving weapon in Thomas. But it remains to be seen whether they are willing to pay starting quarterback money in order to keep Thomas.
