The city of New Orleans has set upcoming new guidelines for fans to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken from within the previous 72 hours in order to attend Saints preseason and regular season games at the Caesars Superdome.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced the new ruling on Thursday, which will also cover restaurants, bars and outdoor venues of more than 500 people, barring that the total attendance is more than 50 percent of its overall capacity.
This is in response to the recent spike in coronavirus cases in not only the New Orleans area but across Louisiana as well.
Cantrell further announced that the new guidelines will be a requirement on Aug. 16 and will then be under strict reinforcement on Aug. 23, which will fall on the date of the Saints' home preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Saints released a statement on their official website acknowledging that the team will adhere to the new guidelines.

We understand some will be frustrated, as are we, that we find ourselves in this position.
“We, as a community, have overcome so much in our history and come back stronger every time. Together, we can defeat this virus and return to living, celebrating and winning in the way we always have. We need you in that number – both on game day and in defeating this virus.”
The Saints also confirmed that home games at the Caesars Superdome will be at full capacity, which will be a grand change from last season where only a limited number of fans were allowed inside the stadium to watch the team. Most notably, a mere 3,500 were in attendance for the Saints' 2020 NFC Divisional Round clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints sure hope to play their entire upcoming home schedule in front of a full capacity crowd at the Caesars Superdome
