The New Orleans Saints are clearly focusing on their need to add more defensive help for the 2019 season by adding some run-stopping support with defensive tackle Malcolm Brown.

The first few seasons of Brown's career have been fortuitous for the four-year player, as he won two Super Bowl trophies with the New England Patriots. Brown's sack numbers aren't quite there, but the Saints need added support against the run considering they play running backs like Devonta Freeman and Christian McCaffrey twice a season.

The Saints have solid players on their defensive line in Cameron Jordan, Marcus Davenport, and Sheldon Rankins, so adding Brown to the deal they agreed upon is simply icing on the cake at this point. Brown may not have the numbers to go with his winning resume, but the Saints likely added him due to his knowledge of what it takes get to the Super Bowl and win it all.

The Patriots used a first-round pick on Brown back in 2015, but declined his option this season which opened up contract negotiations for the former Texas Longhorn for the first time in his career. Brown could not have wound up on a better team and the transition should be easy for him considering the Saints elite roster in recent years.

New Orleans is arguably the most complete team in the entire league with a high powered offense and tons of talent on the defensive end. Brown's addition could be more significant than anticipated in a very crowded NFC.
