The New Orleans Saints have signed defensive lineman Margus Hunt, according to the team. Hunt spent the last three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 16 games and logged 17 tackles.

The Colts released Hunt back in March.

Hunt, who played his collegiate football at Southern Methodist University, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (53rd pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 10 contests during his rookie year, finishing with just three tackles and a half of a sack. The following year, Hunt wasn't much more productive, tallying seven tackles and a sack in 12 games.

Overall, the 32-year-old spent four years with the Bengals, amassing a grand total of 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

He signed a two-year deal with Indianapolis in March 2017 and went on to have a breakout season of sorts in 2017, playing in every game and registering 29 tackles and a sack.

The next season, Hunt became a full-time starter along the Colts' defensive front, racking up 30 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 15 contests.

As a result of Hunt's production, Indianapolis re-signed him on a one-year deal last offseason, but he had a very disappointing season, resulting in the Colts parting ways with the Estonian.

The Saints won 12 games and captured their third straight NFC South division title this past season, ultimately falling to the Minnesota Vikings in a heartbreaking overtime loss in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

It marked the third straight year that New Orleans was dealt a gut-wrenching postseason defeat.
