The New Orleans Saints are in need of a head coach after the sudden announcement that longtime leader Sean Payton had stepped down. The Saints have reportedly looked to Kansas City, where they are eyeing one of Patrick Mahomes' favorite coaches for their head coaching vacancy, as reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

As Fowler reports, the Saints want to speak with Chiefs offensive coordinator and Patrick Mahomes favorite Eric Bieniemy. The team could interview the Chiefs play-caller on Saturday.

Bieniemy has impressed as the Chiefs play-caller, with Mahomes and others praising him for his creativity and capability as a coach. He would be a nice hire for the Saints, who are likely intrigued by his innovative offensive mind, just as they were by Payton's.

New Orleans could also be in the market for a new quarterback, so it would be a wise move for them to find a head coach with a proven record of working well with quarterbacks, which Bieniemy has from his time with the Chiefs.

Not only that, but the Mahomes favorite comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree, a group that has enjoyed success in their stints as head coaches.

It will be interesting to see if the Saints' interest in Eric Bieniemy translates to a hire, or if the play-caller will be back with Mahomes and the Chiefs next year.
