New Orleans Saints were once again put into the open market for help at the wide receiver position after former Pro Bowl wideout Dez Bryant suffered a torn Achilles tendon on his second practice with the team.

This immediately turned their attention toward bringing aboard veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall in place of Bryant for the rest of the season. In light of the move, head coach Sean Payton spoke highly of Marshall's presence and ability on the field that he believes can help the team moving forward, according to Christopher Dabe of NOLA.com.

“He moved well,” Payton said about the Marshall workout. “Smart. He’s experienced. Someone that’s been in a number of systems. Overall, he had a good workout. He’s got good length and size. He’s another big target. We’ll see how it goes this week and what our plans are.”

Marshall may not be the player he once was, but he could factor into the equation based on his physical traits and experience on the field. He has the ability to still be a factor in the red zone by utilizing his size and strength at this point in his career.

In seven games played with the Seattle Seahawks, he had 11 catches on 23 targets for 136 receiving yards and a touchdown. Granted, he took a backseat to the young talent on the roster at his position in Seattle, he still has plenty to offer at this stage of his career. He is a proven threat in the passing game that has shown that he can be a possession receiver, which is something that may benefit him playing with Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees.

Beyond that, this is a chance for him to potentially compete for the Super Bowl as part of one of the league's most explosive offenses. This is a tremendous opportunity to make the most out of a unique situation at the tail end of his career.
