The struggling New Orleans Saints received some terrible news on Tuesday after it was revealed that one of their former players recently passed away while in police custody. Saints OT Terron Armstead has caught wind of these shocking developments and has taken to Twitter to share his grief.

Glenn Foster, who played two seasons with the Saints between 2013 and 2014, was reportedly arrested by Pickens County police on December 4 for charges of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude. Records show that the 31-year-old was then rebooked the following day for charges of assault and robbery (h/t TMZ Sports).

Law enforcement officials in Alabama have since confirmed that Foster passed away on December 6 while still under police custody. No further details about the death of the former Saints defensive end with a full-blown investigation reportedly underway.

For his part, Armstead could not hide his sorrow as he learned about the tragic death of his former Saints teammate:

Armstead joined the Saints as a third-round pick in 2013. This was also the same year Foster started his career in New Orleans. The pair clearly formed a bond as rookies and their friendship extended outside the football field.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Glen Foster. May his soul rest in peace.
