The New Orleans Saints were kicked around by the Atlanta Falcons a few weeks ago. Kiko Alonso and his defensive teammates are on a mission to gain revenge.

Late in the third quarter, they are doing their job, leading 20-9.

The Saints were ambushed by the Falcons in the Superdome, 26-9, on Nov. 10. It will remain one of the most surprising results of the 2019 NFL season. The rivalry between the Saints and Falcons, which has always been contentious, has become more pronounced this decade.

This decade began with the Saints winning their first Super Bowl in the winter of 2010 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Falcons had thought they were going to match that Super Bowl three seasons ago, but they blew a 28-3 lead against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI. Saint fans reveled in the Falcons' failure.

Last season, the Saints' painful loss in the NFC Championship Game prevented them from playing in Atlanta for the Super Bowl. Falcon fans gained a moment of pleasure. Saints-Falcons has become a better NFL rivalry while the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins rivalry has plummeted in relative importance.

Kiko Alonso is doing God's work if you're a Saint fan. He is the devil if you're a Falcon fan. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
