The New Orleans Saints are enjoying a lead over the Indianapolis Colts, and they should have no problem getting the win over their “Monday Night Football” opponents. Wide receiver Michael Thomas, in particular, has been performing so well in this game and throughout the season that he's set a new receiving record for the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints noted that their 26-year-old wide receiver had become the record holder for the single-season receiving record. After catching his fifth reception, he officially put his name in the franchise record books again.

Thomas entered the game with 121 receptions, four short of the record he set in 2018. He broke that record on Monday night, and is now looking for more. He made his record-setting reception with 12:37 left in the second quarter.

The former Ohio State Buckeye is on pace to break the NFL's single-season receiving record of 143 sets by Marvin Harrison of the Colts. His 126 receptions are fifth all-time in NFL history. However, he may not finish the season at just fifth.

Thanks to his heroics and the effort of the entire Saints team, they will start the second half with a 20-point lead over the Colts. Thomas himself has had a phenomenal game, notching 109 receiving yards on nine receptions in one half of play.

There's no reason quarterback Drew Brees should stop feeding the hot hand. The veteran quarterback is looking for touchdown pass 540 of his career, which would pass Peyton Manning for the most all-time. He is also looking to get the Saints up in the NFC standings.
